Who's behind Muslim Prepared
I'm a London dad and a geopolitical risk analyst. My working day is spent reading intelligence as it comes in, forecasting what could go wrong and advising people what to do when it does. Muslim Prepared applies that work to the home.
Why I started it
When the government asked every home to be ready for three days on its own, I realised no one was writing that advice for families like mine: Muslim, busy, on a budget, with parents to look after and five prayers a day that don't stop for a power cut. So I started.
How the guidance is put together
- Sources. The practical advice starts from the government's own risk assessments and official UK guidance. Blog posts list their sources at the end, guides show when they were last updated, and every figure in the Playbook has a dated source in its appendix.
- Faith. Hadith are given with their collection and number. Where scholars differ, the site says so and points you to your imam, and that's where religious questions about your own situation belong.
- Worked examples. When the Playbook or a blog post needs a family to show the numbers, it uses one example household: two parents, three children and a grandmother in a third-floor London flat. It's a composite told in the first person, not my own family.
- Kit. The What I use page only lists things I've bought and use in my own home.
- AI. The scenes and voice in our films are AI-generated, and so is the Playbook's cover image. The research is real.
All of this is general guidance. It isn't medical, legal or financial advice, and it doesn't replace instructions from the emergency services.
If you spot a mistake or a figure that's gone out of date, email info@muslimprepared.com and I'll check it and put it right.
How the site pays for itself
The family plan, the guides, the blog and the weekly Risk Brief are free.
The money comes from the Playbook, a £17 PDF workbook, and from affiliate links on the What I use page. If you buy through one of those links, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes what I recommend.
Start with your own numbers
The free family plan works out your household's three days in two minutes: water including wudu, food, power and the numbers to keep by the door.
Going further
The Playbook is a 111-page PDF workbook in sixteen chapters, taking the plan from 3 days to 2 weeks and 3 months.
